A gift for Father's Day

Hi everyone and a huge welcome..it's also lovely to say 'Hello' to new followers too.

I am absolutely thrilled to read comments you leave and will always get back to you as soon as I can. Its been a couple of weeks since my last post as life has been quite busy, but today I am sharing the gift I made for my dad. Instead of a card I altered a large wooden tag that I had purchased from M&Co's sale some time ago.  You can view the before and after below :-)

The words and vintage van are from Calico Craft Parts..................they are fabulous and you can personalise words in various fonts/sizes that they have available online. They really do add that special touch to projects and many of my crafty friends have been using them. ( Astrid McLean, Butterfly, Zuzu) Click HERE to go to Calico Craft Parts  or on the names of my uber talented blog friends to view even more designs and craft parts. You will not be disappointed x

First of all I took Tim Holtz Harlequin Stencil, applying texture paste. Once dry I covered the whole tag in  Fresco Irish Cream paint from Paper Artsy. (2 coats due to the sentiment on the original tag being red)

Paper Artsy Haystack and Mud Splat Fresco Paint was then applied using a baby wipe.

A napkin was torn around the edges and adhered with Ranger Glue n Seal , some random stamping, using Tim Holtz Stampers Anonymous stamps/Ranger Archival Inks and finally some treasure gold,  highlighting the raised areas.
The edges of the tag were defined, using a mix of Black Soot and Vintage Photo DIs.
I also applied some fine splats of paint using a brush and some DI RE-Inker, spritzed with water.
( Not that easy to see in my photograph :-)

The Calico Craft Parts were coloured with Vintage Photo DI, Black soot Distress Marker on the bumper and wheels and Barn Door Distress Marker on the soft top of the car.

Sending you all many hugs and I hope to catch up with you soon

Take Care

  7. Annie...thank you so much for the sweet comment! I am so bad about making the rounds of my favorite people to see what they are up to! Glad I did this morning. Your wooden tag is a very clever idea and I love what you have done with it. The background provides a wonderful "canvas" for your jalopy and "father" sentiment. A simple design yet so effective!
