TimHoltz Tags of 2014- April

Hi Everyone ...................Hope you all had a fabulous Easter  xx .Sorry I have not been around for a wee while but  I have not been so well and work/life has been rather hectic too. It's great to be back crafting and I would like to share my take on Tim's April Tag.
I have really enjoyed making this tag......loving the tissue tape background, which I did not want to cover and the amazing Trellis die.............isn't it just great!!!

To find out all the inspiring details in the creating of this tag please join Tim's April Tag tutorial that is on his blog by clicking HERE

Now for mine :-)
I used the tattered florals die as I did not have any cocktail sticks/toothpicks to use with the pinecone die
A close up of the trellis die :-)
And Mr Bubbs, who is often in my craft room with me wanted to get in on the photo shoot too x
He is 16 and is just so adorable..................our other cat is very camera shy :-(
Tomorrow  ( Tuesday) mum and I are off to Edinburgh to meet up with Astrid for a fabulous crafty get together....its been a few months since we met up with one another and we can't wait for a good old catch up as well as some creative time.
Sending you all huge crafty hugs xx

Nostalgia

So lovely of you to join me here at Curious N CRafty Treasures this evening. It was so nice to have a bit of playtime over the last few days as real life was pretty hectic and I just had to fit in some crafting  time.....I am sure you will understand.
As a huge fan of Robert Burns or 'Rabbie' as we say here in Scotland, DH and I attended a Night of Burns at  The Hydro in Glasgow on Saturday.  One of my favourite Scottish Folk Artists was there, Dougie McLean ( another good Scottish name) as well as two of my favourite bands, Capercaillie and Salsa Celtica ( they play Scottish Music with a latin twist, quite unique) Then yesterday we had a wee Burns Supper at home, with haggis, neeps and champit tatties. Of course there was a traditional nip of whisky, accompanied by recital of  several of the Bards poems and  various attempts at singing!!  All good fun!!

Over at Fashionable Stamping Challenge Blog this fortnight the theme is 'Tag Along' and I just had to play along so away we go with a few photographs of my FSC entry and some explanation of the recipe x
I  used a size 12 tag and started off with some Paper Artsy ( PA) paint in Ice Blue, followed by PA Crackle Glaze. Once dry I painted once again with PA paint in Haystack and watched the cracks appear :-) gorgeous !!

Some old book pages were then adhered with Inkssenials Glue n Seal

I then took a size 10 tag and stamped the Dark Room Door Henry & Harriet collage using WV's Archival ink in Potting Soil, tearing off the bottom of the tag. The image is so nostalgic for me right now as I have been browsing over many old photographs, which I hope to add to a journal........some day !!!
I added  charcoal to the papers, which I rubbed with my finger, adding some depth and definition to the torn edges and used the Crafters Workshop stencil 'Art Is'
Distres Inks were used on all of the elements below and on the size 10 tag I spritzed n flicked water. The size 5 tag had some book papers adhered and the sentiment from Dark Room Door Lovely Ladies was added. The pocket watch is also from Dark Room Door. I previously mentioned my love of Tim Holtz Dot Fade stencil and of course it found its way on to this make !!

Once I had decided on the layout I adhered some vintage lace and some Idea-ology charms

To finish I added some vintage ribbon and twine

Well thats it for now and I thank you for staying with me right to the end. :-)

Take care and have a great week

All that Glitters.........!

Hi friends..................Can't believe its Saturday and also the 11th January........................where is time
going !!  Hope you are enjoying the weekend and having fun or even getting inky.

Below you can see the Inkessentials size 12 tag that was made for a Special Little Girl in my life. Lots of glitter and sparkle, which she adores !!!
Its not my usual style, but I have to say that I had fun making it. The  sparkle embossing powders by Personal Impressions had been in my stash for years.  I so love heat embossing......its just amazing to watch the powders melt.
The stamps used are by Diane Reavely Dylusions range and I also used  Distress Markers and some Copics Markers.

I am off to see The Hobbit at the local cinema this afternoon and really looking forward to that.  Catch up  with you tomorrow. Take Care and see you soon

Tim Holtz Tags of 2013-August

Hi crafty friends..............what a fabulous week I have had....... but more about that Sunday or Monday. :-)
You will find below my take on Tim's August tag ( you can view Tim's tag HERE)

I know I am close to the wire here...... but  for some reason...no matter how hard I try ....... I am always 'Running Against the Wind'. ( Love that song by Bob Seger)
Out of respect for Tim I wont be informing you of the August tag recipe,  but I can tell you what I used on my tag in areas where I had to improvise.
As I did not have Distress Stain's in colours used by Tim I applied Frayed Burlap and Broken China
Re-inker Distress Inks using the little pipette from the bottle on my craft sheet. At first I was a little worried as I suddenly thought the background may be too dark, however, I  gave it a liberal spritz with water  and took a paper towel to soak up some of the inks and I love the colours of the tag x

I used  all of the Stampers Anonymous ( SA) Paris Memoirs Stamp Set, CMS 159,  and one stamp from  SA Travel Labels Set, CMS 108.
The stamps were inked in various colours of Archival and Distress Markers. It was great to alter colours using the Distress Markers and they did not bleed in to the Archival Ink. Hooray

I did not have any of the Mask It sheet...but they are certainly on my wish list!!! Instead, I stamped  the images on to paper,  cutting them out and layering them over the stamped image on the tag. With Mask It I would never have to cut them out again as the mask is neatly stored until you need it once more. You don't even have to clean it !!!!

Here are some close ups of the masked areas

Once my masking was complete I blended the edges of the tag with Walnut Stain Distress Ink ( inked a couple of times to create more depth around the edge) then added some burlap/twine.
Off to post this before the 1st September...........................where has this year gone !!!!

Hope you have a lovely weekend and we will catch up soon

Birthday tag

Hi Everyone...................apologies for taking so long to get back to you all x I am now back at work having taken a couple of month's special leave to care for my husband, whom many of you know had a bad accident in the middle of May. He has made a remarkable recovery and I am so proud of him.

Below is a tag that I made for my dear blog friend Anne, whom you know as Redanne.

Like many of you I really enjoy making tags and used the Lynne Perella stamp set as the focal point.

Various Tim Holtz Stampers Anonymous stamps were used to create the background of the tag, coupled with the  TH damask stamp  and some  Kraft card.

The flower was layered and a pearl adhered in the centre along with some lace trimming.

Various Distress inks were blended to create an aged look.

I also added some muslin behind the stamped image above and some Treasured Gold on the metal embellishment.
The cotton at the top of the tag was stamped with a TH Happy Birthday sentiment and a metal key attached.
I know that Anne loved her tag and like all of us will treasure it.
I am now off to catch up with as many of my lovely followers/fellow crafters as I can and will be back soon with another post.

Take care and crafty hugs

Fairy Cupcakes

Hi Everyone....................hope you are enjoying your Sunday whatever you are up to. THanks for dropping in to view the latest post here at Curious N Crafty Treasures.

Below is a birthday tag for my son's girlfriend. She is very girly and loves  pink and sparkles, which is not something that comes easy to me, but the lovely  'Fairy Sweets' stamp set  from Oxford Impressions fitted the bill perfectly x  There are so many wonderful elements in this set to play with and you will definitely see it again

The tag is a size 10 and was inked using Victorian Velvet DI, edged with Tea Dye DI

You can see all of the main elements below, which were edged with DI or Distress marker to take away the white edge

The papers were from some of the many that I have in my stash. They are from a 6 by 6 pad by K& Co

The edges were distressed and then blended with Tea Dye DI ( Another project without Vintage Photo !!!!)

The papers were layered and adhered with tape and some hand dyed lace was adhered with Ranger Wonder Tape

I took a piece of twine and to prevent it fraying used some glue. I then adhered it to the candle to look like the wick. I cut a slit in the cupcake and put the bottom of the stamped candle through.

The candle and bird are from the Fairy Sweets Stamp set too.

I sprayed Ranger Perfect Pearls Mist in mint and pink gumballs to the cupcake wrapper, lace and fairy wings.

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday and have a lovely week.

Catch up soon

Steampunk

Saturday once again and I just want to thank you for dropping in. I am truly honoured that you visit and leave such lovely comments.

Below is a tag/hanging that I made for my crafty blogging friend Jenny, whom you all know as 'Buttons' of Pushing the Right Buttons blog.

The background was painted in PaperArtsy Fresco Finish paint in Ice Blue.
The stamps used were from Oxford Impressions London Blue stamp plate.

I had some newsprint tissue paper in my stash, ( recycled wrapping from a parcel) which I backed on to a piece of card, distressing the edges with some vintage photo DI

An adage ticket and some ideaology pieces finished it off. Oops............. I  also used cotton ribbon, from my crafty friend Anita Houston, stamping Happy Birthday on it.

Tonight I am babysitting............. looking after.my niece and nephew who live outside Edinburgh. I dont get to see them often enough so really looking forward to spending time together tonight. They both love crafting.........................so you can guess what we will be doing !!!!

Have a great weekend whatever you are doing and I will catch up soon :-)

Dreaming of Wings

Sunday once again and this week has  gone too quickly for sure !!!  I have managed  to find some time to craft  this week, as this is such a busy time for birthdays and other celebrations, but  I do apologise for not returning  so many visits during the last 2 weeks. I will however, certainly drop by your blog between today and tomorrow x.

Below is a tag hanging that I made using stamps from Paper Artsy, ink and the dog range. They stamp so beautifully with gorgeous clear images.

First of all I embossed the tag, which is a size 10 manila tag from Ranger, using a  Sizzix TH embossing folder.  I used various shades of Distress inks, which I then spritzed and flicked with water.

I decided to layer some stamps over the tag and just randomly stamped text and a bee from Tim's Stampers Anonymous range.

Some Paperartsy Grunge Paste was applied through a Dylusions stencil and once dried blended with Treasure Gold wax in White Fire and Sapphire. Some of the embossing was also treated with the wax.

The dragonfly, which was originally silver, has been in my stash for years and I recently came across them when searching for another item !!.  I painted the dragonfly with Adirondack Paint Dabber in Jupiter. Once dried I spritzed with gold cosmic shimmer mist and I just love the aged, almost verdigris appearance.

Some  stained  and aged cotton was placed through the tag top and a clear bead attached to complete the look.

THank You for your kind comments which are really appreciated. Off for a  wee cuppa then to catch up with you all. Have a great Sunday and enjoy the week ahead.

I am entering this project in the following challenge themes:

12 tags of 2013- June

Hi Everyone and welcome to my new followers........its great to have you join me here in my small corner of Blogland.

As a new blogger, commencing March last year, I promised in January 2013 that I would not miss any of Tim's Tag's of 2013..............but life isn't like that and unfortunately I missed making/sharing a tag in May.................of course I can still make it and that is what is great about Tim's blog I can check out the 'How To'.

Below is my take on Tim's June tag. You can find Tim's own tag recipe by clicking on HERE. I stayed pretty close to the recipe, but put my own spin on the colours, SA stamps and finishing touches using TH products.

To watercolour I used Barn Door, Tumbled Glass, Frayed Burlap, Weathered Wood and Dried Marigold Distress marker's

I used Salty Ocean Distress Ink, Pickled Raspberry and Warm Honey Distress Stain on the background.

In February's Tag, Tim showed us how to make ribbon using Tissue Tape, which you can see below.

I distressed and tore the edges around the watercolour image and adage tickets

Thanks for dropping in and I hope you have a great week
