The Dawning of Aquarius

Hi Everyone and a huge hug to followers old and new. Below is my make for this fortnights challenge over at Craft Room Challenge blog. Esther has chosen the theme, which is The Age of Aquarius. You can find all of the details by clicking HERE
I do hope you can join in the fun with us and you can also view the fabulous and  inspiring makes of my
 DT roomies :-)

The sponsor this fortnight is Tando Creative..................so get creating !!!!

I decided to make a Tag Book, using wrinkle free distress, spritz 'n' flick and marbled stains technique. I have also used the distressing tool, greenery stamp from  TH SA Spring Sprung and a Zodiac stamp by Judikins. The digital Image of Aquarius is  from the Vintage Zodiac Signs by Nicecrane.

The colour appears to be much greener than in real life. I used Salty Ocean and Mowed Lawn Distress ink on the back and front of the  Ranger Inkssentials size 10 tag, spritzing and flicking with water once dry.
The digital image was torn around the edges using the TH  paper distressing tool and once matted the edges of the pale blue card were also distressed.
The zodiac stamp was placed on tissue and adhered to the back of the book using Inkssentials Glue n Seal

I then trimmed a size 5 tag and a manila envelope and used Salty Ocean and Mowed Lawn Distress Paints, spritzing with lots of water. The word Aquarius was generated from my pc, torn and distressed with Vintage Photo DI :-) ( I just had to use it guys!!)

I used Black Soot DI on the TH Dot Fade stencil, which has became a huge favourite.  To finish I edged the whole book with Black Soot DI, giving even more definition.

Looking forward to seeing what you create for this wonderful challenge theme. Thank You so much for dropping in and taking the time to comment. I love to read your comments and will return the compliment.

Tim Holtz Tags of 2014-January

Hi Everyone...............I always love the weekend and especially when I have some crafty time :-)
Today I am sharing my take on Tim's January Tag. Although I did not have all the elements that Tim used I was able to improvise and I am delighted with the result.

You can find Tim's tag and his tutorial by clicking HERE.
Unfortunately I only have the small version of Tim's Sizzix Pocket Die, so I thought I could perhaps alter his Sizzix Alarm Clock die, which you can see below. It was pretty large when placed on the size 8 tag and so I decided to use Wendy Vecchi's Art Parts Pocket Watch
I also used another of Tim's embossing folders :-)
You can see the bottom of my tag and  the distressed  TH Adage Ticket as well as TH stencil's and a stamp from Tim's Stamper's Anonymous Small Things set
At the top of my tag, you can see that I used another of the SA Tiny Things stamp and a Time rub on.
To trim the top of my tag I used some of Tim's Tissue Tape as well as an Idea-ology trinket and key.
The photograph below is of  the centre of my tag before I splattered it with paint.
Thank You so much for taking the time to view and comment on my take on Tim's  January Tag. I know how difficult it can be to manage your own time and I  really do appreciate your visits.
See you Tuesday with my DT make x

Sending you huge crafty hugs xx

All that Glitters.........!

Hi friends..................Can't believe its Saturday and also the 11th January........................where is time
going !!  Hope you are enjoying the weekend and having fun or even getting inky.

Below you can see the Inkessentials size 12 tag that was made for a Special Little Girl in my life. Lots of glitter and sparkle, which she adores !!!
Its not my usual style, but I have to say that I had fun making it. The  sparkle embossing powders by Personal Impressions had been in my stash for years.  I so love heat embossing......its just amazing to watch the powders melt.
The stamps used are by Diane Reavely Dylusions range and I also used  Distress Markers and some Copics Markers.

I am off to see The Hobbit at the local cinema this afternoon and really looking forward to that.  Catch up  with you tomorrow. Take Care and see you soon

Creating with Finnabair

Hi everyone...........Hope you are well and enjoying some crafty time. Just a quick post to share some photographs of my wonderful crafty day with  the fabulous Finnabair :-)

Damsel Fly and the Queen Bee, Great Western Road, Glasgow, held a Finnabair Workshop Weekend 5th/6th October and my lovely mum and I attended on the Saturday. It was an early start....not because Glasgow is that far away from us but I love to spend time with my two old Furballs and I am a bit of a fouter in the morning.

Lo and behold we were first to arrive and had a lovely chat with Annie & Yvonne from DFQB and Anna.

'Thank You' ladies for a lovely day and fab lunch, with yummy cakes, sandwiches and quiche :-)
Look forward to attending more of your classes.

Then it was heads down as we learned to create Mixed Media projects Finnabair style.

The kits were amazing with stunning Prima Papers, laces and embellishments, some of which were designed by Anna herself. I really wanted to keep them in the packaging as they were so nice....... but that's not the deal!!!

The photograph below is Anna and I at the end of the day, which was from 9-6.30pm and the time flew in.

I did not quite finish my makes as I had some pieces that I knew I wanted to add and I still had at least another coat of gesso to apply, but I wanted to share them with you anyway.
Below is the canvas that I made using the kit and a photo image provided by mum.

In the afternoon we created this wonderful mixed media layout and I have to say I fell in love with this style/techniques.

A close up...still to be finished but I just love it :-)

Anna's class was wonderful...she is an excellent teacher who is genuinely inspired by everything around her and enjoys sharing her style/techniques with fellow crafters.

I am so looking forward to my next class with Anna, which is in Wirksworth, 30th November. Of course I am looking forward to meeting up with my lovely blog friend Redanne as well.

Take care and I shall be visiting you all Tuesday /Wednesday as I am having an early night tonight

Best Wishes and Crafty Hugs xx

Guest Designer at Craft Room Challenge

Hi Everyone and a warm welcome to new followers...I am so thrilled to be Guest Designer this month over at Craft Room Challenge Blog.

The lovely Hazel has chosen Trees and /or Leaves for this fortnight's challenge and the sponsor is Crafty Individual's. I do hope you can join in with us x

When Mervi advised me of the challenge theme I immediately thought  of the phrase we have all heard....
' Do you think Money Grows on Trees'?

To view the finished canvas you will have to go to Craft Room Challenge Blog HERE, but I have provided some  photos and details of the recipe below :-)

I began by applying grunge paste through various stencil's that I have from Dyan Reavely and Crafter's Workshop. I then applied some Fresco Finish Paint in yellow's and green's. I then stamped Sheena Douglas's  Majestic Oak Tree, (courtesy of my mum),  on to tissue paper using Green Stazon. Paper napkins depicting pound notes were torn and  were also adhered with  matte Gel medium, then to blend them in to the background I applied paint to the  torn edges.

Walnut stain was inked around the edges to give an aged look and treasure gold in sapphire and renaissance was applied to the stenciled areas.

Thank You so much for dropping in and I hope you will manage to view the  fabulous DT makes as well as my finished  project over at the Craft Room Challenge blog,  leaving a comment if you can.

Crafty Hugs and catch up soon xx
