Make Your Own Backgrounds @ Craft Room Challenge

Almost the middle of October ..where has the year gone !!!!. This fortnight our challenge at CRC is hosted by the very talented Mervi....who would like to see backgrounds that you have made using various techniques i.e stamping, masking, stencilling, paints and more...........for further challenge details please click HERE

Our sponsor this fortnight is The Stamp Man..and I am sure that many of you know Jill from the many fairs they attend as well as their shop and online store. The winner of this challenge will receive a prize from the Stamp Man  as well as a blog badge. We also have our Top 3 blog badges too.

The only thing that we ask is that you please read the Challenge Rules. So many entries over the last few weeks have had to be disqualified as they had entered too many other challenges...its such a shame as the projects were quite fabulous. :-(

I have had a couple of photo frames hanging in the kitchen  for some time and kept meaning to alter them...........They contain restaurant menu's and memories of holidays in the USA.

When I heard Mervi's challenge was 'Backgrounds' I had no excuse, plus, I am becoming obsessed with Decoart Chalk Paints and Crackle Glaze...................honestly don't stand too long or you may get crackled....even the cats are avoiding me !!!! Halloween Crackled Cats ..hmm !!

 Here is my project:

First of all I used Carbon Chalk Paint on the wooden frames, followed by the Crackle Glaze then Whisper. The menu's are placed on Distress Ink Backgrounds  of various brown/rust shades and you can see that one frame has a wrinkled background.
Some old cutlery was altered using alcohol inks of varying shades of blue, red and ginger
One the paint was dry I applied Vintage Photo and Faded Jeans Distress Ink. To seal the paint I sprayed a varnish that I had in my stash.

I want to add something to the corners, but have yet to decide what that will be.

For more inspiration please pop over to CRC where you will be able to view the stunning makes by my DT sister's HERE

Thanks for dropping in and if you have time please leave a comment and I will return the compliment to you as soon as I can.  xx
