Words @ A Vintage Journey

Welcome back  crafty friends...:-)...its lovely to have you visit.
This fortnight the challenge theme at A Vintage Journey is hosted by my lovely DT sister,  Alison. ( Butterfly)
For those who follow Alison's blog the challenge theme will be no surprise....Yes....its WORDS!
For more details of Alison's challenge theme and our  pesky Travelling Instructions, which we strictly adhere to, please click HERE.

Our regular sponsor is Country View Crafts, who have an amazing variety of  Tim Holtz products and offer free P&P.
Each fortnight there will be a challenge winner, chosen by the DT,  who will receive a gift voucher to spend online at their store.
Having recently purchased  Tim Holtz Idea-ology New Found Relatives and some Alpha tiles I decided I wanted to create a nostalgic piece. I also found some of Tim's 12" by 12"  papers in my stash, which were all letters of the alphabet and here's my piece:
I took a picture of the 10" by 12" canvas board, which you can see below.  First of all I adhered Tissue Tape at  various lengths on both sides of the canvas. As the canvas had been coated with gesso I was able to start applying Distress Paints in Rusty Hinge immediately.  You can see by the shine that it was still  a bit wet when I took the photograph.
With no real plan in mind I decided to add some texture and  you can see the stencilled areas. I also applied some paste to two of the corners, using my fingers. More Distress Paint was added using Stormy Sky and Vintage Photo
I also used Distress Inks on the canvas, ageing some of the painted/non textured areas of the canvas.
I then took two  Wendy Vecchi'Art Part' pocket watches and painted them with Distress Pain in Tarnished Brass. The found realtive images were cut to fit the base of the pocket watch and then sandwitched between the base and top piece, using Glossy Accents. The chain was purchased from a DIY store and I attached it to the pocket watch using Tim's .
The leaves are die cut using Tim's Sizzix Die,
The flowers were made whilst on a short break last year, using the  Sizzix Tattered Florals die. (small)
The Post Card is from Tim's  'Ephemera' pack.
Some Treasure Gold was applied to textured/stencilled areas, creating a lovely gilded effect.

Thank You so much for taking the time to drop in. If you would like to view even more inspiration you can find it HERE. My DT sister's have created some amazing projects and we would love to see you join in too.

Take Care and CRafty Hugs xx
