Heavy Metal @A Vintage Journey

Hi friends..........It's Heavy Metal at A Vintage Journey this fortnight and the lovely Terry is our host for this challenge.

In Terry's words here are the challenge details:
"This challenge is to share your "Heavy Metal" love of Tim and his products and this can be altered or not i.e metal pieces ( Idea-ology), foiled back paper, metallic paints or stains. Pretty much anything with "metal"in it or any form of."

As always our regular sponsor is Country View Crafts who are offering a gift voucher to the winner of the challenge and we also have our very commendable Pinworthy's, who receive a badge for their blog.

I have to say that I really enjoyed making my project for this challenge as I love Tim's faux metal techniques, particularly the ones from his Compendium of Curiosities 2.

And here is the finished project:

I am really enjoying Tim's Postage Stamp Bigz Die............ and Mr Mojo has returned so that's always a positive too :-)

The Recipe :

First of all I covered card in metal foil tape from my stash, placing it on my card. I then           brayered over it to make sure that it was properly adhered.

I then took the  Tim Holtz Postage Stamp die and ran it through my big shot. I did this several times, cutting out the centre piece, enabling me to layer it up. The foiled covered die cuts were placed in Tim's Riveted Industrial embossing folder and then inked with Alcohol Inks as per Tim's Instructions, which you can find on page 57 of  his CC2.
The die cut layers were then pieced together using foam tape to add some dimension as I wanted to create a frame.

The butterflies were cut from metal ( I cut the metal from a can of coke using Tim's scissors ) and then embossed using one of Tim's embossing folders. The faux enamelled technique was applied and the outcome was fabulous.  I will certainly use this technique again and again. You can find the  faux enamel technique on page 56 of CC2.

I then took another of Tim's Bigz dies ( Holly Branch) and once die cut I inked it with Walnut Stain DI, applied some glue and covered in some flower soft that I had in my stash for many years. Idea-ology mini cogs were then adhered to the branches with Glossy Accents. Cool flowers !!
I also used the GA to attach the butterflies and Metal Idea-ology bird to the frame.

Looking forward to  viewing your entries and seeing what you all come up with for this fabulous challenge. For more inspiration you can view the entries of the other Creative Guides HERE

My craft room is now in turmoil and my hands very inky ..but I really did have a wonderful time making this project. Now its your turn and I hope you have lots of fun !!!!
