Today I am sharing my DT piece for Ruth's challenge, which is a photo inspired, based on the fabulous texture and colours of "Rust". This really is a wonderful challenge and you can view all the details by clicking HERE.
You will see that I went a bit mad with the rust theme!!!!
My background was created using aluminium foil, multi-medium, tissue paper, acrylic paint, Crafty Notions Acrylic Wax, CN Rusting Powder and white vinegar. The photograph below is the first step...it's a fairly lengthy process and not one to be completed in an afternoon or evening as each step must dry thoroughly.
This is the finished background...full of rusty goodness and it's very pliable, not hard like you would expect. (It's very important to seal it with acrylic wax)
To create the rust on the fabric I took a piece of Ranger Cut 'N'Dry Foam and applied the acrylic wax to my Tim Holtz SA Damask Stamp. I then applied the stamp to the fabric, sprinkling the rusting powder on top. (TIP :Remember to tap off the excess RP on to a sheet of paper so you can return it to the jar.) The fabric was then spritzed with white vinegar and left to dry.......fabulous rusting and texture, looks better IRL.
The heart is a Tim Holtz die cut- Petals and by placing 2 together you have a large heart.
Once again acrylic wax was applied and then sprinkled with rusting powder, spritzed with white vinegar.
Two Paper Artsy Hot Picks Stamps ( HP1109EZ) were inked with Ranger Jet Black Archival ink and applied to wooden tags. Rusty Hinge DI was then applied to the tag once the ink had dried and an Idea-Ology Mini Gear completed the look.
I love Idea-Ology trinkets and these arrows are such a great size for larger projects.
Some Vintage lace was applied around the rusty heart using extra sticky double sided tape
I also used Idea-Ology Hinge Clips, Arrows and the gorgeous metal Butterfly
