It's Thursday and time for another challenge here at Artist Trading Post Exchange.
Julia is our challenge Host and her theme is 'Stencil Mania'.............so get those stencils out my crafty friends and let's see what you can create. There is a £10 voucher for the challenge winner to spend at the Artist Trading Post online store and we also have a Top 3, combined with blog badges...............Hope you can find the time to play along as it would be so great to have you join in with us, we love to see what you come up with for the challenge themes we choose.
We are a Mixed Media Challenge and we also like to see Rubber Stamping included in your entries.
( sorry, but we do not allow digital stamps)
Here is my DT piece :
Recipe:
I began by placing Ranger Texture Paste through stencil's on my canvas as you can see below ( Clearly I had not wiped my stencil properly, but as I was going to spray over it it did not matter!!!)
I then took some Gesso applying it to the canvas and then adhering some torn book pages. More Gesso applied on top of the paper.
I then began to build up various layers/textures using lace and metal/wooden embellishments
The stamped image is by Lynne Perella for Paper Artsy and I blended Vintage Photo DI, Fired Brick, Warm Honey, Shabby Shutters and Broken China Distress Markers adding further depth and interest. You can also see Tim Holtz Sizzix Trellis Die, bottom right.
A variation of Distress Stain Sprays were applied to the canvas ( Fired Brick, Black Soot, Vintage Photo) The stamped image was covered with Tissue whilst applying sprays.
The metal embellishments were painted with Gesso then Key Lime Silks Acrylic Glaze.
Treasure Gold Gilding Wax was applied to the stencilled areas as well as the trellis die to complete the look.
