Hi everyone.......so lovely to have you visit at Curious N Crafty Treasures x And a huge welcome to followers old and new x
Today I am sharing a very special birthday card for a male. This Scottish gentleman travelled around Europe for 6 months in the 1970's, sharing his journey in a Volkswagen Camper Van with two Australians. It's no surprise that they called the van MACTILDA :-) and quite apt that the Camper Van stamp is a design of Dark Room Door, who were founded in Australia.
The card is an easel card and you can see below that I added lots of textured details using Tim Holtz stencils ( Arrows and Harlequin stencils)
To colour the background once the paste was dry I used Dylusions Spray Ink in London Blue, Melted Chocolate and Cut Grass, drying them with my Heat Tool. Treasured Gold wax was then applied to the raised areas.
The Dark Room Door stamp was inked with Ranger Archival Ink, Jet Black, then applied to Smooth White Glossy Card. Some Vintage Photo and Worn Lipstick Distress Inks were applied to give the look of an old photograph, which looks better IRL. Once matted on to black card then on to my background I decided to make it an easel card as the plan was that it would be inserted in to a frame, following the birthday celebrations.
Some close ups of the textured areas
I love Tim Holtz Idea-Ology and adhered an arrow, gears, numerals and a tag using glossy accents. The key was from my stash of acquired bits n bobs :-)
I have not entered a challenge in some time so with the themes below in mind I would like to submit my easel card in to the following :
1.Over at the That's Crafty Challenge Blog the theme this fortnight is 'This is a Man's World', which runs until the 5th September.
2. Fashionable Stamping Challenge Blog also have a new challenge theme, which was chosen by Dot, and is a 'Birthday Card for Someone Special'.
3.The challenge theme over at Our Creative Corner Challenge Blog is 'Summertime' and this gent certainly travelled Europe in his camper van during the summer months. ( He is none to keen to travel in the winter)
4. Anything Goes is the challenge theme over at The Artistic Stamper Challenge Blog this month so I am going to enter this make there too.
Great to catch up with you all again and I look forward to visiting you soon

ReplyDeleteThis is a wonderful card especially when you know it will bring back a flood of wonderful memories to the recipient. A lovely idea that it can be inserted into a frame afterwards. I like the hint of colour you added to the stamped camper van.
ReplyDeleteI would so love to travel around Europe in a camper van, not saying how long I would last with my awful travel sickness but I like the notion of it!
