Summer Garden @ Craft Room Challenge

My lovely DT roomie, Hazel, is the host of our new challenge theme at the Craft Room and she has chosen the theme 'Summer Garden'.

Hazel says "At the time of writing this post we've been having some lovely sunny weather here in the UK and the gardens are in full bloom, so my theme for this challenge is A SUMMER GARDEN. You can make any kind of project as long as it has something to do with the theme".

Weddings/Anniversaries @ Craft Room Challenge

Where has the last fortnight gone!!! It's hard to believe that its time for an other challenge over at The Craft Room.
It's my lovely DT roomie Mervi who has chosen our challenge theme and she would like to see a Wedding or Anniversary project.

I decided to go for an anniversary card, which you can see below:

It is an 8 by 8 card and I used a pearl card to mat my background on to. You can't see it  well in the photograph but I stamped one of Tim's large french stamps in Distress Paint and then spritzed the card with various blends of Distress Re-inkers and water. I dried each layer before applying more ink. Finally I added a spritz of cosmic shimmer mist in gold.

The die cuts/florals were from my stash.

Things with Wings

Its hard to believe that another two weeks have passed and its time for another challenge at  the Craft Room Challenge blog. The entries for Esther's Recycle Challenge are amazing and she will have a hard job choosing the Top 3.

It's my turn to Host and I have chosen 'Things with Wings'. I love to add wings to my crafty makes and you can see below that they can be added to any project.

Here's a little picture of the background, which  was adhered on a canvas board, layered with lace, string, netting and scrunched paper.

Once the Gesso was dry I sprayed with Dylusions Ink in London Blue and Melted Chocolate. Some of the ink was swiped with a baby wipe and you can see how this changed the colour tone. Treasure Gold was then applied and it looks amazing over the scrunched paper.

The stamps used are from Oxford Impressions Venezia Stamp set and the Layered Wings are designed by Tim Holtz for Sizzix.

Roses and Romance at Craft Room Challenge

Hi everyone...hope you are having the best week  x  Debi is the host of the new challenge over at Craft Room Challenge this fortnight and she has chosen Roses and Romance. It's such a fun theme and I hope you get the chance to play along.

 Below is my DT submission, which is a canvas ( 7 by 5 )

As the canvas had been treated with Gesso I gave it a wash of Vintage photo Distress Paint and added some vintage papers, which were torn around the edge and aged with Vintage Photo Distress Inks.

The roses were handmade using Tim Holtz  Mini Tattered Florals Movers and Shapers Sizzix die as I wanted a slightly smaller Rose. You can also use the  Tattered Florals Bigz die.

The florals were die cut using Tim Holtz Co'Ordinations paper and you can see the various textures below. I chose to distress the textured side :-)

Here they are all sanded down.............isn't this an amazing effect !!

Then I took my Vintage Photo Distress Inks and aged them

Texture paste was then applied over Tim Holtz stencils...dot fade and harlequin..once dry I applied Treasure Gold wax in Blue Sapphire and Florentine.
I love Tim's Found Relatives and decided to use this beautiful photograph of the young girl, patiently waiting on the return of her fiance. The frame was die cut using SB die, painted with Salty Ocean Distress Paint and then sanded down. I wanted a gilt framed look so ran the frame through my Big Shot using an embossing folder.  The sanded areas were distressed in ......yes you guessed........Vintage Photo Distress Ink and yet more gilding wax.. The edges of the canvas were aged using Walnut Stain Distress Ink and some gilding wax was applied to the roses.
For added romance I took some American Seam Binding, smooshed through Victorian Velvet Distress Ink, which was applied to my heat mat and then spritzed with water and heat dried. The hat pins and cameo finished off the look I so wanted to achieve. :-)
Oops...almost forgot that I had added some vintage lace, which was stained with tea.

KNock KNock !!........ It's Humour at CRC

Hi Everyone ...Over at the Craft Room Challenge blog my lovely DT sister, Mervi, is the host for this fortnight's challenge, which is HUMOUR!!
Laughing, smiling, joking really brightens your day and we hope you can join in with us. Many of you will have humorous stamps/sentiments, but if not you can mix stamps up, creating really funny images :-)

Unfortunately my camera had ran out of battery whilst I was making this project and I could not find my charger, so apologies for the lack of photographs, but I will talk through  the process.

First of all I took a piece of  paper , distressing the edges  with my  TH scissors, and blended Warm Honey Distress Ink all over it, applying more colour in certain areas. I then took two of Tim Holtz stencils ( Rays & Dot Fade) applying more Warm Honey and Peacock Feathers. Black soot was then inked around the edges. The SA stamp and mat was also distressed  as was the Calendar. 

I love these stamped hands as they are so useful in many of my projects. Some wire was twisted round a paint brush and then attached using Ranger Wonder Tape ( RWT). I pierced a hole with my paper tool and placed the wire through, securing with more RWT . 

The giggle stamp is also a wooden one from TH Stamper's Anonymous collection and was inked in Jet Black Archival ink.

Transport @ CRaft Room Challenge

Hi Everyone..........As usual the weekend went by very quickly......but it was fun !!  Saturday I had a Pyjama day, which was fabulous and Sunday I was crafting !!! Bliss !!!

It's time for a new challenge over at the Craft Room this fortnight and Suzanne chose the theme...which is  TRANSPORT

We would love to see any form of travel that gets us from A-B: 

from Bicycles to Hot Air Ballons and Ships

Here is my take on the challenge theme:

Both photographs were taken outside in daylight, however, the metallic heat embossing is not too visible in fact it looks like we are flying over  a foggy Paris !!!!  Very atmospheric !!!!

The paper was in my stash and was aged and ditressed around the edges with Vintage Photo DI, then flicked with water. I took some versamark and covered my  Tim Holtz  Stampers Anonymous Hot Air Balloon, applying it to the aged paper. I then applied copper embossing powder and used my heat gun to set it. Distress Inks in Rusty Hinge, Stormy Sky and Shabby Shutters were applied direct to my craft mat, then I took my waterbrush to colour in the panels of the balloon.

Letters from the  Tim Holtz, Sizzix Wordplay Die were inked with a variation of Blue China and Vintage Photo DI, then edged with Black Soot Distress Marker to remove the white edge. An adage ticket was adhered using  the Tim Holtz mini stapler. A Tim Holtz Idea-ology metal bookplate, bubble and dot fadestencil, plus a TH sentiment completed the look i wanted to achieve.

20th Century at Craft Room Challenge

Hi Everyone.....Hope you had a nice weekend whatever you were up to. I managed to spend quite a bit of time in the craft room and had such fun :-)

Another fornight has passed and it's  my lovely roomie Zoe's turn to decide on the challenge theme at Craft Room......and what a theme it is.....the 20th Century!!! If you check out the post you will find Zoe has added a  link,  which will provide some ideas to get that Mojo going. I have to say that I was a bit stumped until I checked out Zoe's link.......How thrilled was I when I saw that Tutankhamun's tomb was discovered in the 1920's. It gave me the chance to use  a  large heat embossed tile, which had been in my stash for years and to use up some scraps of card and muslin that were lying around from the fleather look and dare I say it  a Christmas Project !!!

Originally I planned to make a journal type page, which is why I made a fleather pocket...to store some pictures etc, but once complete i thought I would like to place it on a canvas and of course I adore Driftwood and to me it suited my project. 

First of all I adhered some cotton,  leftover from a triangular bandage, to a piece of Mirri Card, using UHU Fabric Glue. Once dry I inked the wrinkled cotton with Walnut Stain DI, creating some depth to the texture. 

The large image of Nefertiti that you can see was stamped in to some  3-4 layers of gold embossing powder, remembering to place Versamark or Perfect Pearls on the stamp before placing in to the molten e-powders. ( Avoids the rubber stamp from sticking) I then cracked the embossed area and removed the occasional piece before adhering Glu n Seal over the top. 

 Taking some  left over scraps of muslin I applied various egyptian stamps using Archival Potted Soil, ensuring that the ink did not run when glue was applied. 

I stamped various images to place within the fleather wallet, which was given the Sheena Douglas treatment as I love this faux leather look, which uses Glycerine, water and then Distress Inks and Spray n Shine from CC.

The image on the left was made by placing versamark on a stamp and  then applying the stamp to speciality stamping card.  I  then ran my brayer over, which had been inked using Cabin Fever, Adirondack Ink....it has been ages since I used my brayer and I really had fun. 

 

 Above you can see the TH Sizzix Die, Journey, which was inked and edged with DI and treasure Gold, then  Spritz n Flicked with water. A smaller piece of driftwood was spread with Glue n Seal then I adhered some tissue paper, on which I had stamped another egyptian image. GNS was then applied over the tissue paper and left to dry. As  I was very happy with the outcome I adhered the small piece of driftwood to the bottom piece using Glossy Accents. 

 The little Dragonfly has been in my stash for over 10 years as they were a purchase I made mid 90's when my card making was just taking off. .
