Hi everyone..............today sees the beginning of another challenge over at A Vintage Journey and the lovely and talented Nikki is our host. Here's what Nikki has to say about he challenge description
"Let's work with canvas this month in our vintage; shabby; mixed media, art journalling, industrial, timeworn or steampunk style. It doesn't matter how as long as some canvas is a dominant feature of your project. Perhaps you may use a canvas in the traditional way or use the reverse to create a shadow box? Canvas boards are fabulous to work on or perhaps you have some canvas sheets which can be cut and adhered to another surface."

It's been a while since I have made anything Steampunk so I thought I would have a play with stamps, stencils, paints and Idea-Ology for Nikki's fabulous challenge theme.
Firstly I used an Andy Skinner Stencil with Paperartsy Grunge Paste then I applied Decoart Quinacridone Gold, Paynes Grey and Yellow Iron Oxide Paints to the canvas, creating various layers until I was satisfied with the appearance. Some Treasured Gold was then applied to the stencilled letters using a paint brush.
Seth Apter's new dies from Spellbinders were coated with Decoart Paynes Grey Antiquing Cream in Patina Turquoise. Once Dry I rubbed the patina back and then applied Yellow Iron Oxide for an aged appearance. Some Idea-Ology Gears and a lightbulb were adhered with Ranger Glossy Accents along with some chain for my stash.
The spool is also an Idea-Ology piece and was perfect for tying the chain around. The words were stamped form A Steampunk set by Oxford Impressions and aged with Vintage Photo Distress Ink.
I really had great fun playing around with the stencils and paints so I hope you will have a go to as we love you to hop on board for our monthly challenges.
