Tic Tac Toe @ A Vintage Journey

Hi Everyone.............here we are with another fabulous challenge over at A Vintage Journey Challenge Blog. As the host of this challenge I decided to go with the theme of Tic Tac Toe and you can find the details below:

With so many Tim Holtz/Ranger products as well as other similar products, we would like you to choose at least three items from the grid below, incorporating them in your entries/projects. You can choose items horizontally/vertically or diagonally, it's your decision.  One more thing........ can you please, please include the name of the items you are using within your post, not just in the link to the challenge.

Idea-ology or any metal embellishmentSpraysRibbon/twine
PaintEphemeraDie cuts
Foil tapeTexture fadesStains

For my project, which is an 8 by 8 card, I chose Tim Holtz Metal Embellishments, Sprays and  Ribbon.

You can see the Idea-Ology Ribbon Reel, Ornate Frame, sprayed with Vintage Photo Distress Stain and  metal wings/clock below.
I also used Tim's Distress Photo Tinting technique on his found relatives photograph, which you can find in his book Compendium of Curiosities, Volume 3. ( page 41)
I apologise for the lack of a step by step, but I was in a bit of a rush with this one!!! Should there be anything you would like to know please contact me by using the button on the sidebar.

You can see some kraft glassine below, which was scrunched and then inked with Vintage Photo and Walnut Stain Distress Ink. A left over piece of muslin creates some further texture and interest. The metal pieces are all from Tim's Idea-Ology range. Love the wishbone xx
The  TH Walflower Stash papers were adhered to the back, front and insides of this card after being distressed with Tim Holtz Distressing tool and then inked with Vintage Photo and Walnut stain. Tim Holtz new stencils, Flourish and Lace, were placed on the corner of the Wallflower Papers and then inked with Salty Ocean Distress Ink. You can also see that I used some of Tim's Ephemera pieces too i.e the ticket behind the metal Idea-Ology pieces. ( see below)
Tim Holtz Sizzix Ornate Frame die was placed over grungepaper and  cut using my BigShot, then sprayed with Vintage Photo Distress stains. The colour is really intense and looks amazing in real life :-)
You can also see  more detail of the  Distress photo tinting and lip colour, using Distress Markers.
Tissue tape, muslin , Ribbon Reel and Idea-Ology metal number are visible below
Thank You for taking the time to read this post and I do hope that you will hop over to the AVJ blog to view the amazing array of projects that the uber talented Creative Guides have made.

I would love to have you join in with our Tic Tac Toe challenge, so I do hope you can enter. The challenge runs from today, 6th February, until the 19th February.

The challenge winner will receive a voucher to spend online at Country View Crafts, who are our regular sponsor.  We also have blog badges for the Pinworthies, that is those projects which particularly stood out and had adhered to the challenge rules.

As it is coming up to our first anniversary at A Vintage Journey we are looking to make some changes, which will be of benefit to our followers and also encourage new followers to our challenge.  For More details Check HERE

  9. That is one of my favorite techniques to add faint colors to vintage photos and I LOVE this one. Still a little disturbing to me thought that they look 12. LOL. HOWEVER, the yummy scrumptious color of the frame around them and all your wedding references and textures and mixed media have me smiling immensely. This is FABULOUS Annie.
hugs to you and happy weekend,
    Lisa x

  21. Annie, I'm really enjoying this challenge, and it has proved to be quite "challenging" for me to think about the elements I want to include, as I am a more of a seat of the pants crafter. I love your "wedding" card with all the great grungy vintage elements you have chosen. LOVE the ornate frame, the use of the photo tinting, the little bit of ribbon peeking out (very clever idea!) the glassine and muslin bits! All so yummy! Thank you, too, for your lovely comments on my blog. It has been my pleasure to join this vintage journey!
