It's time for another challenge over at Artist Trading Post Exchange Blog and the very talented Ruth is the host this fortnight with the theme of "Alphabet Soup"
Here are the challenge details in Ruth's own words:
"I'm sure we all have alphabet stamps or maybe you have some chipboard letters that need using up. This time our challenge is about using letters or numbers in some way other than making a word or marking an anniversary with them. Maybe random stamping or use of die cuts to make a collage background, borders or do some pattern building with them? "

Here is my challenge project, which is an 8 by 8 card and I shall include the products used at the end of my post. All items used can be purchased from the artist Trading post by visiting their online store or shop in the town of Wirksworth, Derby.
First of all I applied Gesso to my card stock then once dry I applied Finnabair's Clear Crackle Texture paste through a Tim Holtz stencil. The crackle is quite fine and if you want larger crackles you must apply a thicker layer.
Once dry I brushed over the card with Pumkin Soup, Fresco Finish Paint by Paperartsy, then Inky Pool on the textured areas, which is also Fresco Finish Paint by Paperartsy. Charcoal was then applied around the edges of the letters and finally some Treasure Gold wax in Renaissance to complete the look.
Lynne Peralla Stamps were then inked with Potting Soil and Black Archival in and edged with Walnut Stain and Black soot after they were coloured with Distress markers in Barn Door ( red) and Blue China. Some crinkled and inked Kraft Glassine paper was also used as a mat for two of the stamps. (see below)
Torn book pages were stained with Tea Dye Varnish and adhered with Ranger Glue N Seal.
Tim Holtz Sizzix Dies, Pediment Set and Hardware Findings were inked with various Distress Inks. The pediment can be seen above the main LP image and was inked with Rusty Hinge DI as well as Walnut Stain and Black Soot. The Lock, from Hardware Findings was inked with Black Soot and Walnut Stain Distress Inks as was the key, which was in my stash. The heart is a TH Movers and Shapers die. The wire was stained with Ranger alcohol ink.
